Adding and deleting tasks and events

Adding a task

Sortedmakes it super-easy to capture the ideas you may have from time to time. Use any of the ten methods described below to start capturing.

The first four are illustrated in the screenshot to the right.

Method 1

Tap the large blue/white cross in the bottom right of the screen to open the ‘add task’ box, then enter your task name. In this method, there is a Save button, or if you want to cancel the action without saving a X at top left.

Method 2

Drag down the screen to open the ‘add task’ box. In this and the other following methods, there is no Save button or X to cancel. To save, tap outside the box, or to cancel leave the task title empty and tap outside the box.

Method 3

Use thumb and finger to pinch out between two existing tasks to add a new task with the same start time (if any) as the one above. Tap outside the box to save, or to cancel if you leave the task title empty.

Method 4

Tap the + symbol at bottom left of the task/event list (or anywhere in that row) to add a new task at the bottom of the list (with the same start time as the last item if it has time set). Tap outside the box to save, or to cancel if you leave the task title empty.

Method 5

Quick Add: Use the + symbol in the formatting toolbar while adding the title of a new task to save the new task and add another. This ‘Quick Add’ method allows you to add a number of tasks in quick succession.

Method 6

3D Touch: On the homescreen of the iPhone, long-press the Sorted3 icon and then press the ‘New Item’ option which appears in the list of available actions.

Method 7

Today Widget: If you have Sorted3 enabled as a widget, tap the ‘New item’ button.

Method 8

Set up Siri to add a new task using voice commands (see detailed explanation in the Siri section of this support centre).

Method 9

Apple Watch: If you have Sorted3 installed on your watch, you can click the large cross at the top of the Sorted3 app screen, or use Siri.

Adding an event

To add a new event, you start with any of the same actions as for adding a new task, and then choose New Event at the top of the ‘add task’ box.

If you have turned on calendar integration in Settings, your event will be saved to the Calendar shown in the box, which will be the default calendar you have configured in Settings).

Deleting a task or event

There are two ways to delete a task or event:

Method 1

Use Magic Select (described in detail here) to swipe to the left and then tap the trash symbol at top right of the screen.

Method 2

Click on the title of the item to expand it, and then tap the trash symbol at top right of the screen.

A deleted task goes to Trash, which can be accessed via the app menu, and can be restored if necessary by swiping it to the left using Magic Select and tapping Recover at the bottom of the screen.

A deleted event is deleted permanently.

If you try to delete a recurring task or event, you are presented with a dialogue box offering a choice whether to delete only the current item, or all items in the future as well.
